moto adventuring in the northeast

Last weekend, we loaded four bikes into the back of my truck and drove out to Boston to visit some friends. We ditched the truck at our old motorcycle dealer's house, and took off for four amazing days of riding through New Hampshire and Vermont.

backyard makeover

This weekend, everyone in the house pulled together to build an outdoor kitchen. My coworker Brett and I designed the slatted wall and butcher counter together, and Adam's new grill was delivered just as we completed the build.

We built a 2x4 gridwork on the wall and stained some deck lumber to match our Ikea table.
We used terra cotta tiles behind the grill to protect the house from heat, and added a planter box to the wood slat portion for herbs. We installed a farmhouse sink with a disposal on the side of the counter so we can cook entire meals outside.
Our friend Doug is a landscape architect, and he designed this planter for us last year. It runs the entire length of our yard, and the low maintenance prairie plants completely conceal the lattice by the end of the summer.

We all chipped in to get Adam a projector and screen for his birthday, so we can screen movies at night and make popcorn on the new grill.

My Birthday Party

For my 26th birthday party, I bought a helium tank, a million packs of balloons, and got crazy.

I made bunting from different patterned papers, and mixed it with strips of floral and striped fabric. I also made paper garland by folding pastel tissue paper into squares and cutting notches out of the endss.

Stripey straws and lemon peels for some fancy gin fizzes.
Four tiers, 12 layers, and one fantastic buttercream birthday cake.
In addition to vanilla cupcakes and the enormous cake, I also made lemon meringue tarts, raspberry macarons, chocolate macarons, and striped sugar cookies.

I wore a vintage dress found during a trip to Savannah, GA. I had to match the decorations!

I recently took these photos as part of a personal profile I had to create for work. I think they sum up my style pretty well, and my dogs posed so well!
